The use of technology has been shown to both accelerate and enhance peace-building efforts in regions around the world. In particular, the lack of physical interaction throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has expanded the use of various technologies to help people connect across borders and communities, leading the way for the development of new tools and resources, as well as leveraging advanced technologies like AI and big data for peace – popularly referred to as “PeaceTech.”
How can we harness the power of technology for peace? CyprusInno talks to Mr. Jarmo Sareva, Finnish Innovation Ambassador, to speak about tech for peace, drawing upon his experiences in Finland and in former roles such as the Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research and Chief of the Disarmament and Peace Affairs Branch at the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management and Secretary of the First Committee (Disarmament and International Security) of the United Nations General Assembly.
This virtual event is facilitated by CyprusInno in partnership with the Embassy of Finland in Cyprus.
